Bardou lies in the Parc Naturel du Haut Languedoc in the mountains near Montpellier in Southern France and is our special destination for those who appreciate the essentials of life. The accommodation is rustic but you will be rewarded with a unique setting of stunning scenery and tranquility. Consisting of twenty ancient stone houses, Bardou is an authentic example of the architecture and layout of a tiny medieval mountain hamlet.

Bardou is the perfect place for enjoying nature. Several marked trails offer short- or long-distance walks for all levels. You might also enjoy swimming in the refreshing waters of mountain streams with waterfalls and secluded deep rock pools.

Symphonic Holiday
1st - 12th June 2022

Conductor: Cayenna Ponchione
Violin: Anna Göckel

LÉO DELIBES, Le roi s’amuse: Six airs de danse dans le style ancien
GRACIANE FINZI, Violin concerto Par delà les étoiles
LOUISE FARRENC, Symphony n. 2

We still have places for horn, trumpet, violin, viola, double bass.

Who is afraid of modern music?

On this Symphonic Holiday, we invite you to explore a piece of contemporary music. The violin concerto of the French composer Gracian Finzi is very modern in its language, but our conductor Cayenna Ponchione-Bailey and soloist and violin coach Anna Göckel, who both are very familiar with contemporary music, will safely guide you through this experience!

This violin concerto will be framed by two compositions from the 19th-century. Victor Hugo wrote the play “Le Roi S’Amuse” in 1832 for which Léo Delibes wrote a ballet sequence of six charming dances and antique airs to be included as incidental music. In 2019, in Bardou and already under the baton of Cayenna, we enjoyed playing the 3rd of the three symphonies of Louise Farrenc, a French composer and pianist who lived in the 19th century. With the second symphony we will now continue to present the symphonic oeuvre of this composer who only recently was started to be rediscovered and introduced to a broader public.
